During Computex 2025, the tech heavyweights of the region, MediaTek showcased pioneering advancements in AI, chip technology, and data infrastructure during the event held in Taipei, Taiwan. These plans indicate that the company positioning itself as a key role player in the forthcoming leap in the AI and chipsets and are strategically diversifying and innovating cloud computing, IoT, and consumer electronics markets.

MediaTek: Launching a 2nm Chip with AI and 6G Capabilities

Rick Tsai, MediaTek’s CEO and Vice Chairman, expressed pride in announcing the company’s first 2-nanometre chip, which will be available starting September 2025. This next-gen chipset will feature 6G AI capabilities, further establishing MediaTek’s position in connectivity solutions.

Key highlights from MediaTek's Computex announcements:

- 2nm Chip Launch: Optimised with AI, set for launch in September for superior performance efficiency.

- 6G AI Integration: MediaTek plans to include AI in its future wireless systems, with 6G as the latest addition.

- GenAI on Devices: The company’s Dimensity 9400+SoC incorporates AI-based reasoning for complex photography and other advanced functionalities.

- Growth of AI and the Internet of Things: MediaTek is developing 240 models of AI and over 100 models of IoT, which enable advancement in smart homes, industry, and enterprise systems.

- Chromebook Advanced Features: Newer chipset models are part of the components of high-performing Chromebooks.

- AI Technologies in Cloud Computing: MediaTek integrates AI through cloud operations and AI-focused digital infrastructure for smarter solutions.

- 16.5billion In the first quarter 2025, revenues from smartphones grown YoY basis by 564.1 billion, the total number of employees globally is 21,000.

MediaTek and NVIDIA: Custom Silicon and NVLink Fusion

MediaTek has now also revealed a collaborative partnership with NVIDIA that will make them one of the very first NVLink Fusion users. This partnership transforms MediaTek into one of the very first adopters of NVLink Fusion, a revolutionary AI interconnect technology made for hyperscale AI compute systems.

What exactly is NVLink Fusion? 

This is the innovation of NVIDIA, a new interconnect technology supporting standard modular architecture system AIs. This technology combines CPUs, GPUs, optics, and memory in one rack, increasing speed and scalability.

MediaTek's Contribution:

- Expertise in ASIC design and high-speed interconnects.

- Co-development of the NVIDIA GB10 Grace Blackwell superchip for DGX Spark AI PCs.

- Deep collaborations with TSMC, Cadence, Synopsys, and HBM suppliers.

- Customizable business and technical engagement models for clients.

This partnership aims to limit hyperscale AI system design time and supply custom hyperpowerful silicong for scalable AI training and key AI tasks.
