Sennheiser has unveiled the HDB 630, a new premium headphone addition that aims at listeners seeking unadulterated sound quality. The product borrows its design DNA from the Momentum 4 series but goes a notch higher with digital processing, adaptive noise cancellation, and a combination of wired and wireless playback modes.

The heart of the HDB 630 is a 42mm dynamic driver, designed at Sennheiser's Irish manufacturing facility in Tullamore. That driver, combined with detailed acoustic calibration, is intended to deliver clean mids, natural vocals, and well-controlled dynamics—characteristics that have been hallmarks of the brand's audiophile-level sound for decades.

Price and Availability

The Sennheiser HDB 630 is $499.95 and will become available from October 21 in certain markets, including the US. Details about its India launch are still awaited.

High-Resolution Audio and Connectivity

The headphones support both USB-C wired playback and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless streaming, handling up to 24-bit/96 kHz audio when connected via cable. Wireless playback supports aptX Adaptive, and Sennheiser includes a USB-C transmitter dongle in the box—ensuring that even devices without native aptX support can stream in high resolution.

Custom Sound Through Smart Control Plus

Sound personalisation is a major focus of the HDB 630. Using the Smart Control Plus app, listeners can fine-tune output with a five-band EQ or go deeper using a parametric equaliser that offers full control over frequency, bandwidth, and filters. Settings are stored directly on the headphones, meaning your sound preferences carry across all apps and devices. The app will soon add QR-based preset sharing, allowing users to easily exchange EQ profiles.

Crossfeed and Adaptive Noise Control

Inspired by Sennheiser’s flagship HE 1 system, the HDB 630 features a new crossfeed tool that subtly blends the left and right channels to create a more natural, speaker-like soundstage. The result is less fatigue during long listening sessions, especially for music with hard-panned mixes.

The adaptive noise cancellation system dynamically reduces ambient noise, while the transparency mode uses onboard microphones to let in external sounds when needed. These microphones also power clear voice calls, ensuring practical use on the go.

Design, Comfort, and Battery Life

Built with a sealed over-ear design, the HDB 630 uses Japanese Protein Leatherette ear cushions for comfort during long listening sessions. Sennheiser promises up to 60 hours of battery life, and just 10 minutes of fast charging provides around seven hours of playback.

The retail package includes a travel case, USB-C charging cable, 3.5mm audio cable, airline adapter, and the USB-C Bluetooth transmitter—making it a well-equipped choice for travel and daily use alike.
