Mark Zuckerberg announced today that Meta's AI-powered Reels translation tool, available both on Instagram and Facebook, will now cover an expanded set of languages such as Hindi and Portuguese. Using artificial intelligence technology, it works real time to translate and subtitle Reels for creators who seek to reach audiences across language barriers.

Instagram chief Adam Mosseri demonstrated the technology in a video, switching languages mid-sentence as Meta’s AI seamlessly dubbed his voice in Hindi, Spanish, and Portuguese. The system doesn’t just translate words — it replicates the speaker’s tone and voice while offering an optional lip-sync mode that aligns mouth movements with the translated audio.

How to Dub Your Reels Using Meta AI

Eligible creators — typically those with public accounts or more than 1,000 followers in supported regions — will now see a translation option during the upload process. Here’s how it works:

- Tap “Translate your voice with Meta AI” when uploading your Reel.

- Choose your target language (e.g., Hindi, Portuguese, Spanish).

- Preview the dubbed version and make adjustments if needed.

- Publish the translated Reel.

For clarity, Meta adds a “Translated with Meta AI” label to all AI-dubbed videos. Users who prefer the original audio can go to Menu > Audio and Language > Do not translate to revert it.

New Instagram Map Feature Rolls Out in India

Meta is also rolling out an interactive Map feature for Instagram users in India. The update lets users share and discover posts, Reels, and Stories by location, making it easier to explore what’s trending nearby.
