MGNREGA Scheme Website Scam: In the age of social media proliferation, it is hard to distinguish between real and fake information online. Several media initiatives and government-led campaigns regularly uncover such fraudulent information on the internet. In the latest update, PIB Fact Check, the fact-checking arm of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), listed a website as fake that claims to be the official website of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

In the latest X post, @PIBFactCheck posted that http://rojgarsevak.org claims to be the official website of MGNREGA. However, this claim is false, and the website is fake. The portal is not associated with the Government of India.

"A #Fake website 'http://rojgarsevak.org' is claiming to be the official website of MGNREGA, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. This website is not associated with GOI," @PIBFactCheck posted on X.

The connection to this website is not secure, and a user should avoid visiting the website. Entering sensitive details such as passwords and banking information on the website is not recommended.

As per the post, "the official website of MGNREGA is https://nrega.nic.in/MGNREGA_new/Nrega_home.aspx." A user should visit this website for updates on MGNREGA.

Coming to the fake website, you can notice grammatical errors on the page, which confirms the fraudulent character of the portal. Multiple job openings are posted on the website, which users should not pay attention to as they would also be fake.

As for more fact checks, the website also uncovered a 'Ladli Behna Yojana' that promised Rs 3,000 for every female in the country. This claim also turned out to be fake. In the past, it also flagged a fake message concerning red ticks in a WhatsApp message in addition to the two-tick mechanism for read receipts. You can read more about this claim here.
