Microsoft has introduced a new flexible Xbox controller called 'Proteus' for players with disabilities. The new controller will make gaming more accessible and fun for people with disabilities, thanks to new smart customisations. The Proteus, made by ByoWave, is a video game controller kit that includes 'snap and play' parts that come combined to create over 100 million permutations and LED lighting variations.
Unlike regular Xbox controllers, the Proteus is made for one-hand use with a small cube-like structure which is offered with buttons, analogue sticks and analogue sticks. These controls can be personalised using the companion application. The controller gets a USB-C port and a Bluetooth dongle along with buttons.

The new controller can be used with the Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Windows 10 and Windows 11 and will obviously not work with gaming consoles by Sony and Nintendo. The device is currently available for pre-order and listed with a price of $255. It will be priced at $299 later this year, which is around Rs 25,000.
Updates about Microsoft's Xbox Adaptive Controller, which was introduced in 2018 to assist players with disabilities in configuring their gaming environments, have been announced. A new software update is on the way, they said. The controller will be compatible with more accessories thanks to this upgrade. The controller will have 12 buttons, a hat switch, and an additional switch compatible with each USB port.

Further, Xbox maker also announced a new filter feature which lets gamers sort titles shown in the 'My Games & Apps' section of the console. It will be based on accessibility and technical attributes in order to offer more enhanced gaming experience.
