Microsoft has just released a new major update for their copilot Windows app. This latest version of Windows added a new and exciting feature called Copilot Vision. If you have the Microsoft Store version—1.25071.125 or later—you will get this update where you can now share your desktop or app on Windows with the Copilot app in real time for assistance from AI.

What Is Copilot Vision?

With the new Desktop Share feature, the Copilot gains the ability to “see” your screen—similar to screen sharing during a video call. This allows it to:

  • Provide contextual help
  • Offer writing and design tips
  • Guide users through apps or workflows
  • Answer questions based on visible on-screen content

From editing resumes to navigating new video games, Copilot Vision is designed to help users in a hands-on, visual way.

New Voice Activation for Vision

Microsoft also announced that users can enable Vision directly during voice conversations. Just tap the glasses icon mid-chat, and Copilot will begin analyzing your screen in real time to assist more effectively.

How to Use Copilot Vision

1. Update to Copilot version 1.25071.125 or later via the Microsoft Store.

2. Click the glasses icon in the Composer bar.

3. Choose whether to share your entire desktop or a specific window.

4. To stop sharing, click the ‘Stop’ or ‘X’ icon.

Availability of Copilot Vision

Copilot Vision is currently available through Windows Insider Channels only, and rollout will occur gradually by region; not all users may see it immediately. Microsoft will use this preview phase as an opportunity to refine Vision according to early feedback.

Privacy: Should You Be Concerned?

Microsoft notes that Copilot Vision requires explicit user consent, unlike its Recall predecessor which automatically recorded screen activity without user approval causing much controversy.

However, privacy experts are raising flags. Since Copilot can access everything visible on your screen — including personal files, icons, folders, and wallpaper — the potential for unintended exposure of sensitive content is real.

Microsoft assured to its users that no data will be recorded unless explicitly shared; however, here trust will play an important role in how widely this feature gets adopted.

Key Takeaways

- Copilot Vision allows real-time desktop sharing with Microsoft Copilot.

- It can offer tailored help based on what’s on your screen.

- The feature is rolling out gradually via the Windows Insider Program.

- Privacy concerns remain, despite Microsoft’s opt-in approach.

- Can be enabled during voice conversations for smarter interaction.
