Microsoft has recently deployed GPT-4 to its AI-powered Bing. And to add to the good news, it feels like the Seattle-based tech giant is finally doing away with the waitlist period for users to try out the updated chatbot.
Many media outlets reported that they received immediate access to the chatbot. We also tried it and were successful in accessing the new Bing instantly. You can take Bing AI took for a quizzing ride after signing in from Microsoft Edge. However, TechCrunch reported they did not receive instant access to all Microsoft accounts used in their experiment.
How To Try It Out?
To try it out, update your Microsoft Edge browser to the latest version, and enter bing.com/new in the URL or click the new Bing icon in the top right of the sidebar. Click on 'Join the waitlist' button and sign in with a Microsoft account. Once you complete the process and your stars are correctly aligned today, you will get access to the AI-powered Bing chatbot immediately after account verification. After selecting your desired tone, you can start chatting with the new Bing.
A point worth mentioning - This does not work on non-Microsoft browsers like Google Chrome or Firefox. When we tried accessing it via Chrome, it displayed a button to 'Open in Microsoft Edge' after the signup process.
Communications director Caitlin Roulston responding to The Verge, said, "During this preview period, we are running various tests which may accelerate access to the new Bing for some users." While it appears the new Bing has been democratised for the masses, a user must keep in mind it is still a preview build and will have rough edges. The tech giant is leveraging its trump card to garner downloads and active users on its Edge browser on the web.
Meanwhile, Microsoft on Thursday announced AI capabilities to Microsoft 365. The new Microsoft 365 Copilot is capable of writing first drafts in word, creating attractive presentations, analysing excel data to create visuals and a bunch of other things.
