Moto G96 5: Motorola has finally brought its newest mid-ranger to India — the Moto G96 5G, which launched on July 9, 2025. Targeting budget-friendly buyers, the phone offers a good balance of performance, screen quality, and camera capabilities, all without overpricing it.

Performance and Battery

Inside, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, coupled with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage (up to 256GB). Motorola also provides compatibility up to 24 GB of virtual RAM, which aids in ramping up performance during intense multitasking. A 5,500 mAh battery with support for 33 W fast charging keeps the device powered.

Camera Features

On the camera side, the Moto G96 5G has a 50MP Sony Lytia 700C primary sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide camera that doubles up as macro and depth. For selfies, there is a 32 MP front-facing camera that can record 4K videos. And, Motorola is also bringing Google Photos' AI features like Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, and Magic Editor onboard, which makes post-processing more capable than before.

Display and Design

The Moto G96 5G also comes with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ pOLED display with a silky 144Hz refresh rate and a peak of 1600 nits of brightness. The display is rounded out for a sleek design and is shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Motorola has also included Smart Water Touch so that users can utilise the display even if it is wet — a welcome addition for daily use.

Software and Updates

Out of the box, the Moto G96 5G is available with a guarantee of 1 year of Android OS updates and 3 years of security patches for long-term dependability.

Pricing and Availability

The Moto G96 5G will be released in two storage options:

  • 8GB + 128GB at ₹17,999
  • 8GB + 256GB at ₹19,999

It is available in four colours: Ashleigh Blue, Greener Pastures, Cattleya Orchid, and Dresden Blue. The phone is available for purchase from July 16 on Flipkart, Motorola's official website, and retail chains across the country, including Reliance Digital.
