MOTOROLA has announced the launch of Motorola Edge 40 as the latest addition to its 'Edge' series of phones. The handset packs a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 for performance with Android 13 software. It is an upgrade over the last Edge 30.

Motorola Edge 40 Specifications

The Edge 40 comes with a 6.55-inch FHD+ 144Hz pOLED display that has a pixel density of 402 ppi. It has a resolution of 2400x1080 pixels, HDR10+ support and a brightness of up to 1200 nits. For multimedia consumption, it comes with Dolby Atmos-compliant dual speakers. The handset weighs 171g and has an aluminium frame.

Under the hood, it packs a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 CPU and Mali G77 MC9 GPU, according to 91Mobiles. The Edge 40 ships in a single storage model - 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 256GB ROM. Moving to the software, it runs on Android 13. The handset packs a 4,400mAh battery with 68W fast charging. Plus, it supports 15W wireless top-ups.

Coming to optics, the Edge 40 has a 50MP OIS primary and 13MP ultra-wide sensor with a 120-degree field-of-view. The rear camera supports up to 4K recording at 30fps. On the front, the phone has a 32MP selfie shooter that can record 4k 30fps videos. Features in the camera UI include Pro, Portrait, Panorama, Google lens integration and Auto Night Vision.

As for connectivity options, the 5G handset comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2 and Type-C port for charging and data transfer. For security, it comes with an in-display fingerprint reader, face unlock, ThinkShield and Moto Secure. The phone boasts essential sensors like Proximity, Ambient light, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, SAR and Magnetometer.

Motorola Edge 40 Price and Availability

Motorola Edge 40 is priced at £529.99 (nearly Rs 55,000) on the official UK website of Motorola. The handset comes in three colour options - Eclipse Black, Nebula Green and Lunar Blue. The handset will sell in Europe. Next, it will reportedly launch in select destinations across Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East.

While the handset launched globally, we expect the phone to debut in India soon. Currently, Motorola Edge 30 is the latest handset available in the country.
