MWC Barcelona 2025 : Infinix, the rapidly growing Chinese tech company, is turning heads at MWC 2025 with a groundbreaking new concept: a smartphone with solar panels on the back that can harness the power of the sun to charge its battery. It’s an idea that many have been waiting for, and Infinix has managed to bring it to life.
Solar-Powered Charging: A Game-Changer
The big news here is the solar panels integrated into the back of the phone, which are designed to capture sunlight and convert it into energy. This would mean no more worrying about charging your phone before heading out or carrying a power bank. The panels use perovskite photovoltaic cells, which are thinner, cheaper, and more efficient than traditional silicon cells, making them a great choice for this kind of tech. Infinix is even working on a solar-powered case that attaches to the phone, allowing for even more flexibility.
While the current tech is still in development, the idea of charging your phone just by being outside, in the sun, is a pretty exciting glimpse into the future. The panels offer up to two watts of power, and the "Maximum Power Point Tracking" feature helps to optimize energy intake.
A New Wave in Sustainable Tech
Solar power is becoming more and more important for everyday gadgets. Many companies, like Motorola and Garmin, have already experimented with solar power for things like power banks and smartwatches. Infinix is now taking things further by pushing this tech into smartphones, offering a more sustainable, eco-friendly solution.
Infinix's Next Big Thing: The Tri-Fold Phone
Along with its solar-powered concept, Infinix also teased its first triple-fold phone, the Zero Series Mini. This device has a dual-hinge and triple-fold design, allowing it to unfold into a screen that could replace multiple devices in one compact form. It’s a bold concept, but Infinix is showing that foldable phones aren’t the only way to innovate in this space.
Dual-Screen and Multifunctionality
The Zero Series Mini isn’t just about folding – it’s also designed for versatility. When folded, it provides a dual-screen setup, perfect for side-by-side translation during real-time conversations in multiple languages. This could be super useful for travelers or businesspeople. Plus, it has a dual-camera setup for photos, and a punch-hole selfie camera for those self-portraits.
How Does It Compare to Others?
While Infinix is getting a lot of attention with its new foldable phone concept, it’s not the first to venture into this territory. Huawei’s Mate XT launched in 2024 as the world’s first commercial triple-fold device, and Samsung has been teasing its own version, the Galaxy G Fold, which may be released later this year. However, Infinix’s design and accessories, like the strap that lets you mount the phone on bikes or gym equipment, set it apart as something a little more innovative.
What’s Next?
Both of these innovations – the solar-powered phone and the tri-fold device – are still in the early stages, but they show just how much Infinix is pushing the envelope in smartphone technology. If these concepts come to market, they could truly change the way we use and charge our devices.
The future is looking bright for Infinix, and we’re excited to see where they go from here.
