The OnePlus 15 may be taking a bold new turn. While earlier leaks hinted at possible tradeoffs in the camera department, the latest reports suggest that OnePlus is betting big on performance and durability this time around.

Ceramic Frame Stronger Than Titanium

According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, who has already had hands-on time with a prototype, the OnePlus 15’s middle frame will feature a ceramic coating. This material is reportedly up to four times more resistant than titanium, a material that’s become the premium standard for strength in high-end smartphones.

This ceramic finish, described as similar to “tempered pottery”, could set a new benchmark for durability. To put things into perspective, the iPhone Air—with its titanium frame—impressed in JerryRigEverything’s tough durability tests despite its slim build. If the claim holds true, the OnePlus 15 could prove even tougher.

Bigger Display, Thinner Bezels, and a Desert Theme

The design changes won’t stop at the frame. The OnePlus 15 is said to feature a larger, flatter display with rounded edges and bezels even thinner than those on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. A new desert-inspired colour option, reportedly influenced by the film Dune, is also expected to debut, offering a textured finish that adds to its premium feel.

Powerhouse Specs With a Focus on Performance

Performance remains a core part of the OnePlus identity, and the OnePlus 15 looks set to double down on that. The device is rumoured to ship with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a 165Hz OLED display for ultra-smooth visuals, and a huge 7,000mAh battery.

Possible Camera Downgrades

But all this comes with some compromise. Reports suggest the OnePlus 15 may take a step back in its camera setup, with a smaller 3x telephoto lens and a main sensor downgrade compared to earlier models. On top of that, OnePlus is said to be ending its collaboration with Hasselblad, introducing its own imaging brand called “DetailMax” instead. This shift may be aimed at keeping the price more competitive against rival flagships.

A Shift in Strategy

Taken together, these leaks suggest OnePlus is reshaping its approach with the OnePlus 15. Instead of chasing the best camera system, the company seems determined to build a phone that excels in performance and durability—while still keeping pricing aggressive.
