Nintendo Switch 2 announced: After years of rumors, speculations and waiting the next-in-line Nintendo Switch device was finally announced on Thursday, and now we finally have a clear indication of when the new Switch will be available for sale across the markets this year. Let’s talk about changes. It seems that Nintendo has gone big this time and everything with the console has also gone bigger. The Switch 2 was unveiled via a video trailer (Check it out below), and it confirms the rumors that had been floating around the device.

The video clearly confirms that the Switch 2 will boast a bigger display size, with thinner bezels to compliment the overall look and feel of the console. To top it off the size of the Joy-Con controllers has also seen a significant increase in size. Although it doesn't seem as bulky as Valve's hefty Steam Deck.

The new console will boast electromagnetic connectors, which would make it easier to attach the controller, an upgrade from the previous design, which currently employs a rail system to slot the controllers into the body. The launch will happen in April this year, Nintendo has confirmed.

A Deep Dive into the Expected Specs

The Switch 2 is expected to have an OLED display based on previously leaked dummy models of the handled device. Some reports suggest that it will be backed by a NVIDIA Ampere GPU, which might be the NVIDIA Tegra T239 chip, and if these reports are accurate the Switch 2 will be at par with the Playstation 4 or the Playstation 4 Pro. On top of that, the Switch 2 will also support 12 GB of RAM and upscaling capabilities like the NVIDIA DLSS tech.

Will the Joy-Cons act as a mouse?

While Nintendo has not yet announced if the Joy-Cons in the Switch-2 can be used as a mouse and from the video its functionality as a mouse is still unclear, they do sport IR sensors that are similar to the ones we are used to see in a computer mouse. All said the technical specifications of the device are still under the shadow.

Recent leaks and reports indicate that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be priced at around $300 (approximately Rs 25,000). However, a Japanese industry analyst mentioned last year that the Switch 2 could cost $400 (around Rs 34,000), with some games priced up to $70.

The Switch console was not officially launched in India but people were able to get their hands on it anyway by importing it from other parts of the world. However, hopes are up this time and it will be available to the public for purchase within the country itself.
