Nothing has shared the first official image of its next-generation wireless earbuds, the Ear (3). While the company is saving most details for the September 18 launch, the reveal highlights a mix of familiar styling and fresh design choices.
Familiar design with a stronger case
At first glance, the Ear (3) continues the transparent aesthetic that has become a Nothing trademark. The earbuds themselves appear similar to the Ear (2), but the case has undergone a notable change. Instead of the all-plastic construction used in earlier models, the new charging case now integrates recycled anodised aluminium. According to Nothing, this makes the case more durable while adding a premium metallic finish. The move also reflects the company’s ongoing effort to use sustainable materials in its products.

Inside, the earbuds there is also a redesigned metal antenna system. This allows them to keep a slimmer profile without compromising connectivity, offering a more refined balance between style and performance.
Talk button and built-in microphone
The Ear (3) case now introduces two completely new elements—a “Super Mic” and a talk button. While Nothing hasn’t explained their exact role, these features could open up new ways to interact with the earbuds. The button may be used for activating a voice assistant, handling calls directly from the case, or even doubling as a wireless microphone setup for video recording. This flexibility could make the Ear (3) stand out in a crowded earbuds market.
