Nothing Phone 2a is one of the most anticipated smartphones, set to make its debut on March 5. There have been numerous theories and leaks regarding the phone's major characteristics. The company's recent update officially confirms the smartphone's processor. Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, previously confirmed that the smartphone will not include the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset. Here are all the details we know about the smartphone so far.

Nothing Phone 2a Chipset:

In a YouTube video, the company has confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2a will draw its power from the Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset. It is the first time that a London-based company is moving forward with the MediaTek chipset. Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2 were powered by the Snapdragon 778G Plus and Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1.

Nothing Phone 2a Chipset: How Dimensity 7200 Differs From Dimensity 7200 Pro

Raymond Zhu, Nothing's Product Manager said that the Pro variant is better in a couple of areas including the display IC chip and modem which are over 10 per cent more efficient. Along with this, he also mentioned that the company will bring along some new features specifically for the chipset including the Smart Clean feature.

Nothing Phone 2a: Why MediaTek Over Qualcomm?

Further, Zhu explained that the company wants to offer the best possible performance for the customers who opt in for the mid-ranger.

The company had three choices which included the Dimensity 7200 Pro, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, and Snapdragon 782G but the brand opted for the MediaTek because of the better performance compared to the Snapdragon chips.

In the meantime, the rumour mill has come up with a fresh set of renders highlighting the possible design. The render hints that the smartphone could come up with the circular camera setup with the Glyph lighting. However, the company has not confirmed the design, so it is advised that readers should take this update with a pinch of salt.
