Nvidia, a popular semiconductor firm, which powers a lot of PCs, laptops and other devices with its top-notch performing chips, has become the most profitable company in the third quarter of 2023 leaving behind other popular brands like Intel, Samsung, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). The news was first reported by SamMobile.

Financial data from Intel, Nvidia, Samsung Semiconductor, and TSMC for every quarter from Q1 2021 was collated by Taipei-based financial analyst Dan Nystedt. The results demonstrated that Nvidia has eclipsed all other chip companies to become the most lucrative in the world.

"As the generative AI trend continues to accelerate, Nvidia rushed in and claimed the third quarter chip industry revenue crown, beating out TSMC, Intel, and Samsung," Nystedt posted on X. "Nvidia might surpass Intel and Samsung in full-year chip revenue in 2023, while TSMC is on course to win the championship," he added.

In the third quarter of this year, Nvidia's revenue was $18.12 billion, and the company made $10.42 billion in profit—a 206% rise year over year—with AI chips for data centres making up the majority of the profit.

The largest contract chip maker in the world, TSMC, made $7.21 billion in profit on $17.28 billion in revenue. In the third quarter of 2023, Intel made $14.16 billion in revenue, but it also lost $8 million.

Samsung Semiconductor, the company's division responsible for designing and producing chips, brought in $12.52 billion in revenue but lost $2.86 billion.

Meanwhile, the latest report by Reuters citing its top sources suggests that Nvidia has delayed the launch of its new AI chips in China. If the reports are believed to be true, the new chips will debut in the market and this delay is because of the integration issues.
