Following Apple's announcement of the iPhone 17 series, OnePlus is set for its turn in terms of major new releases — the OnePlus 15. The flagship device is a turning point for the company, having finally bid adieu to Hasselblad. The development suggests a brand-new camera system and potentially the introduction of the much-speculated Detail MaxEngine technology to further improve photography.

Display Upgrade Beyond 120 Hz
OnePlus China President Li Jie Louis hinted on Weibo last week that the OnePlus 15 would take display performance past the popular 120 Hz limit. The phone is said to come equipped with a 165 Hz refresh rate, an upgrade from its predecessor, the OnePlus 13, which boasted 120 Hz as its upper limit. Such a move to include such a feature would place the OnePlus 15 alongside gaming-focused phones like the ASUS ROG Phone, providing ultra-smooth graphics to the masses on a mainstream flagship.
Launch Timeline
The OnePlus 15 is expected to launch in China this October, with the India launch going live in January 2026. While the company hasn't formally announced these dates, they would allow OnePlus to capitalise on post-holiday flagship demand.
Anticipated Specifications
Leaks reveal that the OnePlus 15 features a 6.78-inch flat LTPO OLED screen with the top-of-the-line 165 Hz refresh rate. Internally, it might use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor, along with Android 16 out of the box. Fuelling the phone is a humongous 7,000mAh battery, indicating longer endurance compared to most flagships.

On the camera front, the OnePlus 15 is rumoured to feature a triple 50MP configuration: a primary sensor, an ultrawide, and a telephoto with 3x optical zoom. With the end of the Hasselblad partnership, all attention will be focused on how OnePlus improves its camera game solo.
