OnePlus has shaken up its usual launch playbook this year. Instead of its traditional January flagship reveal, the company pushed out the OnePlus 15 earlier than expected—landing in India and global markets on Thursday. Even more surprising was what didn’t appear: the OnePlus 15R, a model that typically arrives alongside the flagship to serve the premium mid-range segment.

Following the confusion, OnePlus has now clarified that the 15R is very much on the way, with its debut expected in December. The company hasn’t shared official specifications yet, but there’s a clear reference point already in the market: the OnePlus Ace 6, which launched in China and is widely expected to be rebranded as the 15R for India.

If that mapping holds, the OnePlus 15R could feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K LTPS AMOLED display with a smooth 165 Hz refresh rate. The Ace 6 also arrives with extensive durability ratings—IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K—matching the protection seen on the OnePlus 15. Whether OnePlus carries over the entire set of ratings to the 15R remains to be seen.

Under the hood, the Ace 6 runs on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. OnePlus historically equips its R-series phones with last year’s flagship processor, making this one of the most likely confirmed elements of the upcoming device.

Software-wise, the 15R is expected to run OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16 and will switch from the iconic alert slider to the new Plus Key, a move that already appeared on the OnePlus 15 lineup. The 13R lacked Hasselblad camera tuning, so it’s unclear whether the 15R will lean into OnePlus’ new DetailMax Engine for image processing.

In terms of cameras, the Ace 6 offers a 50MP main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 16MP front camera—a setup likely to be mirrored on the 15R.

Battery performance could be a major highlight, with a 7,800mAh battery paired with 120W fast charging. OnePlus has consistently kept wireless charging away from the R-series, and that trend is unlikely to change this year.

As for pricing, the Ace 6 starts at 2,599 yuan (roughly ₹32,000) in China, a modest increase over its predecessor. Considering OnePlus already raised prices for the flagship 15, the OnePlus 15R may also arrive at a slightly higher price point—likely around ₹45,000, compared to the 13R’s ₹42,999 starting price.
