OnePlus Open folding smartphone was launched by the Chinese smartphone maker in India on October 19. The pre-booking of the device is now live, with the first sale slated for October 27. Considering its over one lakh price tag, it has nearly entered into the territory of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, which costs around 1.5 lakh in India.

With a starting price of 1.4 lakh, buyers are now confused about whether to get the seasoned foldable or buy the new device from OnePlus. If you are also grappling with the same question, here is a five-point comparison to understand the difference between these phones.

OnePlus Open vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

Design: OnePlus Open comes in two variants, with one offering a leather back. The new device weighs 239g and is 5.8mm thick. Samsung's offering weighs 253g and is 6.1mm thick. It comes with only a glass back option.

Display: The OnePlus Open has a 7.82-inch 2K OLED LTPO main and a 6.31-inch 2K OLED outer 120Hz screen with 2,800 nits of peak brightness. The Z Fold 5, on the other hand, sports a 7.6-inch QXGA+ main and 6.2-inch HD+ cover 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a peak brightness of up to 1,750nits.

Processor: Under the hood, OnePlus' device runs on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU and Adreno 740 GPU. The Z Fold 5 sports a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.

Software: The OnePlus Open run on Oxygen OS 13.2 based on Android 13. Samsung's fifth-generation foldable runs on One UI 5.1.1 based on Android 13.

Battery: OnePlus' foldable gets a 4,805mAh battery with 67W charging. The Z Fold 5 sports a 4,400mAh battery with 25W wired and 10W wireless charging.

Camera: The Chinese smartphone maker's device has a 48MP + 48MP + 64MP rear and 20MP and 32MP front lens. Samsung Z Fold 5, on the other side, offers a 50MP OIS + 12MP + 10MP telephoto lens on the back. On the front, it gets a 10MP and 4MP front lens.

OnePlus Open starts from Rs 1,39,999 for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant. Galaxy Z Fold 5's 12GB + 256GB model starts from Rs 1,54,999, and the 512GB model costs Rs 1,64,999. The top-end trim with 1TB storage is priced at Rs 1,84,999.
