Oppo appears to be experimenting with one of the most ambitious camera setups we've seen on a smartphone. A new leak suggests the company's upcoming Find X10 Pro Max is still being tested with three 200 megapixel rear cameras, hinting that the feature could make it to the final production model.

The smartphone hasn't been announced yet, but the latest information suggests Oppo is continuing to refine the flagship ahead of its expected launch later this year.

Triple 200MP Cameras Still Part of the Prototype

According to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, Oppo's latest engineering prototype of the Find X10 Pro Max continues to feature a triple 200 megapixel rear camera system.

That's significant because engineering prototypes often change during development. The fact that Oppo is reportedly sticking with the same camera hardware suggests the company is still seriously considering bringing it to the retail version.

If that happens, the Find X10 Pro Max could become one of the first smartphones to offer three 200 megapixel rear cameras.

What the Camera System Could Look Like

The leaked setup includes a 200 megapixel primary camera with a 1/1.3 inch sensor, a 200 megapixel ultra wide camera using a 1/1.5 inch sensor, and a 200 megapixel periscope telephoto camera with another 1/1.3 inch sensor.

The phone is also tipped to include a 3 megapixel multispectral sensor. While it won't be used for regular photography, it could help improve colour accuracy by capturing additional colour information that standard camera sensors often miss.

On the front, Oppo is expected to equip the phone with a 50 megapixel autofocus selfie camera.

More Than Just a Camera Upgrade

The leak suggests Oppo isn't focusing only on photography.

The Find X10 Pro Max is also expected to feature a 6.89 inch BOE LTPO OLED display with 2K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate and support for the BT.2020 colour gamut. Slim bezels are also expected to be part of the package.

Under the hood, the flagship could be powered by MediaTek's upcoming 2 nanometre Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset. While the processor hasn't been unveiled yet, it is expected to power several premium Android smartphones later this year.

The handset is also rumoured to ship with ColorOS 17 based on Android 17.

Launch Could Happen Around September or October

Digital Chat Station also claims Oppo is targeting a September or October launch for the Find X10 Pro Max.

The flagship is expected to debut alongside other premium smartphones that may feature a refreshed design language, although the tipster hasn't shared any details about those changes.

As with any early leak, nothing has been confirmed by Oppo. Engineering prototypes often change before production begins, so the final specifications could differ from what is currently being tested. Still, if Oppo goes ahead with this camera setup, the Find X10 Pro Max could become one of the most camera-focused flagship smartphones of the year.
