GOOGLE will likely announce the Google Pixel Fold at the I/O event scheduled for May this year. The foldable market is all heated up for competition in India. And the tech giant seems to tune in soon. Google may announce the first foldable handset with another highly anticipated handset, Google Pixel 7a, on May 10.

In the latest leaks, The Verge claims the 4K renders of the Pixel Fold are "almost certainly" from the manufacturer. Evan Blass shared the high-resolution renders with the platform. The handset is evident from the back and front and is no different from the leaks in the past.

Leaked Details

These 4K renders hint that the front screen could have a screen size of 5.8 inches. Blass adds the Fold will likely be 5.5 inches tall, 3.1 inches wide and 0.5 inches wide (when folded). The unfolded dimensions may shoot up the width to 6.2 inches and shrink the thickness to 0.2 inches. Plus, it could weigh 283 grams.

The front camera on the foldable handset could likely be a 9.5MP shooter. On the inner display, an 8MP camera could be present. This is similar to what was reported earlier by Jon Prosser on FRONT PAGE TECH. Thirdly, it could be IPX8 water resistant and have a USB Type C 3.2 Gen 2 port for charging and data transfer. Blass also sprinkles two colours - Obsidian and Porcelain in the information. For more leaks, reports tip that the pricing of the Pixel Fold could start from $1,799 (roughly Rs 1, 47,000).

No official word from Google

While the rumour mill has given its best shot to reveal details about the upcoming handset, Google is silent on its release (or even details about its making). Hence, a change of launch plan cannot be negated completely.

Meanwhile, the foldable handset in India is slowly witnessing competition from Chinese smartphone brands. Oppo has its newly launched Find N2 Flip. Tecno has freshly announced the Tecno Phantom V Fold in India. The veteran player, Samsung, is gearing up for the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Z Flip 5 in the coming months. As of now, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G and Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G are its latest offerings.
