BSNL’s new 4G stack is being hailed as the largest deployment of indigenous telecom infrastructure in India. Designed to be cloud-based, scalable, and future-ready, it will also enable a seamless transition to 5G in the near future.
An official statement highlighted, “The rollout of the ‘swadeshi’ 4G network is a transformative step in line with the Prime Minister's vision of Digital India, bridging the digital divide and empowering rural communities.”
97,500 Telecom Towers to Bridge Connectivity Gaps
- 92,600 towers have been commissioned directly by BSNL
- 18,900 sites funded under the Digital Bharat Nidhi programme
- Over 26,000 previously unconnected villages to be linked, including remote and border regions
- In Odisha alone, 2,472 villages will gain network access
The officials confirmed that these new towers will add over 20 lakh subscribers across states such as Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Assam, Gujarat, and Bihar.

Green Telecom Push With Solar-Powered Towers
In line with India’s sustainability goals, the newly commissioned towers are solar-powered, making this one of the largest clusters of green telecom infrastructure in the country.
Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia explained that the 4G network integrates:

India Joins the League of Indigenous Telecom Nations
India joins countries such as Denmark, Sweden, South Korea and China who have developed their own telecom technology with this implementation of Digital Bharat Nidhi initiative bringing connectivity to nearly 29,000-30,000 villages bridging digital divide and providing greater empowerment to millions of citizens.
