Sony has just given the PS5 a sleek visual boost with the introduction of animated backgrounds — but there’s a catch. This eye-catching feature is currently rolling out to select users only, making it an exclusive upgrade for now. The new animated themes showcase iconic titles like God of War Ragnarok, Ghost of Tsushima, and Horizon Forbidden West, transforming the Welcome Hub into a dynamic showcase of PlayStation’s best. If you're among the lucky few, you can find these under the “Games” tab in the Backgrounds menu. Here's everything you need to know about this stylish new PS5 update.
Every PlayStation user is absolutely in love with customising their console, whether that entails adding more colours to the box, changing controller skins, or getting new themes on the home screen. These alterations keep the aesthetics of a PlayStation exciting. Well, it’s now the UI’s turn, as it seems a new PS5 update has launched animated backgrounds for a limited number of users.
@chi_m02 on X claims Sony is slowly rolling this update out on the PS5. While many might think it's a feature exclusive only for the PS5 Pro, users on X have denied this by saying they spotted the new animated wallpapers on the base version as well. Other players also got more static wallpapers which were added to use in the gallery, so it was not all bad.
Keep in mind that these are only cosmetic home screen wallpapers for your PS5 that you can personalise. In other words, you will not receive a complete theme when you set one of them. As of now, there are 13 Sony IP animated wallpapers which have been confirmed to be a part of the series. Here is the list of all the PS5 animated wallpapers confirmed so far:
- Astro Bot
- Days Gone
- Demon's Souls
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Ghost of Yotei
- God of War Ragnarok
- Horizon: Call of the Wild
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Lego Horizon Adventures
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Rise of Ronin
- Stellar Blade
- MLB The Show 25
We said before that this update adds a lot more wallpapers, and indeed it does. The caveat is that almost all of them are static or non game themed. Do not look forward to the 25th Anniversary classic PS5 theme experience. As we previously noted, with the customizations and gear it seems the PS5 and PS5 Pro are ready to elevate the user experience to a new level.
That was it guys for this one, keep an eye out on Jagran English for more such updates
