Realme 16 5G India Launch teased: The Chinese smartphone maker Realme dropped its 16 series devices, the Realme 16 Pro and Pro+, earlier this year in January, and now the brand is ready to launch another device which seems like it is the base variant of the 16 series lineup. Although this Realme 16 5G will be a bit different from its higher-end pro variants. The company has teased this device as the country's first smartphone with a selfie mirror. Now what's that? Well, it's like a small circular mirror that helps as it acts like a viewfinder while clicking selfies from the camera on the back.
When we look at the design philosophy of the device, it takes a different path when compared to the pro variants in the 16 series. The square-shaped camera island has been replaced with a horizontal camera strip that runs along the rear upper back panel of the device. Something that resembles a pill shape, similar to what you would find in Pixel devices from Google and the iPhone Air. The teased selfie mirror sits right next to the sensors where the pill-shaped bar is.
With this offering Realme is trying to grab the attention of the young crowd, with a focus on camera-centric upgrades like the selfie mirror on the back for “sharper, more detailed, and instantly social‑ready images”. If you are someone with a selfie fever, then this device might be just for you. The company has yet to reveal other hardware and technical details of the device. Realme is positioning this product as an “elegant air design that feels effortlessly light, perfectly gleaming”. The smartphone is rumoured to have a compact form factor as well, making it ergonomic as well.
Specs And Features Of The Vietnam Version
The Realme 16 5G has already set foot in Vietnam, and this version about to land in India is quite identical to it; chances are we’ll see the same hardware here as well. It comes with a 6.57-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 4,200 nits of peak brightness. The size also makes it feel a bit more compact compared to the large-screen phones dominating the market right now.
For cameras, the phone packs a 50MP Sony IMX852 main sensor along with a 2MP monochrome lens. Features like LumaColor processing and AI Edit Genie are also included. On the front, there’s a 50MP selfie camera, which could easily end up being one of its biggest highlights.
Under the hood, it runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo chipset. On paper, that might not sound like a big jump, especially since the Realme 15 came with the Dimensity 7300 Plus. That said, real-world performance will tell the real story once the device is out in public.
Another major highlight is the massive 7,000mAh battery, which is among the biggest you’ll find on a smartphone right now and should comfortably last up to two days. It supports 60W fast charging and even offers wired reverse charging. The phone is also expected to feature a 6050 mm² vapour chamber for cooling, along with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.

What could give this device an edge is its compact feel, large battery, better-than-average and bright display and its pricing in the segment, which is yet to be revealed. This device could appeal to those who don't want to go overboard with maxed-out hardware but are looking for some unique utility like the selfie camera paired with durable hardware, and if you are a selfie machine, then this might just be for you.
