Redmi announced the Redmi Note 13 series for buyers in India. The top-end model in the lineup - the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, debuted with a host of upgrades, including a curved OLED display. Xiaomi has now issued an advisory that users should not resort to UV adhesive protectors. While several users may have used them already, the company noted that this may "affect your warranty".
According to Xiaomi, as the "liquid UV adhesive protectors" gain pace in India due to the rise of curved screens, it poses a range of risks due to their application on a device's display. Xiaomi noted that the liquid adhesive may seep into a smartphone's buttons, charging port and other inlets, such as the speaker grille and back panel.
"When using these [liquid UV adhesive] protectors, there is a notable risk that the liquid adhesive which is used to ensure proper fit, may seep into the physical keys, charging port, speaker hole, and battery cover. This may lead to various issues, including unexpected restarts, button malfunctions, speaker noise, and peeling of the battery cover leather," Xiaomi said.

"We strongly advise against the use of liquid UV adhesive protectors as they may result in malfunctions, which could void your warranty," it added. As a solution to this application for display protection, users are advised to use "tempered glass, non-tempered, or electrostatic films" for screen protection, which does not use a liquid adhesive or glue as an applicator.
On the Mi support page, the company shared that Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus buyers can also avail free screen protector and installation by filling out the form from the link on the website. For the unversed, the Note 13 Pro Plus starts from Rs 31,999 and comes with a 3D curved AMOLED screen, which offers an in-display fingerprint sensor with heart rate detection feature.
