The Redmi Note 15 SE 5G is all set to make its debut in India, and the launch is happening sooner than you might expect. Xiaomi’s sub-brand has confirmed that the new “special edition” model will be unveiled on April 2. Interestingly, this comes just a few months after the standard Redmi Note 15 5G arrived in the country.

A dedicated microsite for the phone is already live on Flipkart, which also confirms that the device will be sold online via the platform.

A Familiar Phone With A New Look?

From what has been teased so far, this “special edition” might not be entirely new. In fact, it looks like the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G could simply be a rebranded version of the China-exclusive New Year Cherry Red Edition.

 

The phone appears in a bold red finish paired with a gold-toned frame, giving it a more premium and festive look. The Redmi branding sits neatly at the centre of the back panel, while the overall design seems quite similar to the standard model.

You still get the same squircle-shaped camera module at the back, housing two cameras and an LED flash. The camera island is expected to blend in with the frame’s colour, keeping the design cohesive.

What About The Specs?

While Xiaomi hasn’t officially detailed the specs yet, the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G is expected to carry over most of the hardware from the regular Redmi Note 15 5G.

For a quick recap, the standard version packs a 6.77-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,200 nits. Under the hood, the standard version packs a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset along with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

In terms of the camera, the standard version packs a 108MP primary sensor along with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Lastly, the standard version packs a 5,520mAh battery.

Pricing Context And What To Expect

For context, the Redmi Note 15 5G was launched in India earlier this year starting at Rs. 22,999, going up to Rs. 24,999 for the higher storage variant. It is currently available in Black, Glacier Blue, and Mist Purple colour options.

With the SE variant, it appears to be more about design rather than hardware updates. So, the big question is, is this just a cosmetic upgrade, or is Xiaomi planning to surprise users with something more when they launch it on April 2?
