Reliance Jio, at its 46th Annual General Meeting (AGM), introduced Jio Smart Home services today. The devices in the catalogue will rely on JioFiber and Jio AirFiber for connectivity. A new Jio router and set-top box were introduced by Jio at the event.

The Jio set-top box will offer services that include TV channels, streaming platforms, games, apps such as JioTV+ and JioCinema and more. The app of Jio Smart Home will have an eRemote to operate the unit. It will also allow a user to transform their handset into a gamepad.

The app will have Jio Photos to allow users to access their image gallery from a cloud service. Jio Home smart automation will provide security cameras with alerts, a live feed and more functions.

Further, Jio Cloud PC was showcased at AGM 2023, which is a virtual personal computer developed in partnership with tech giants Google and HP. According to FoneArena, it won't require upfront upgrades or investments and demand payments for only the used services.

It will be an affordable substitute to bring the processing potential of multiple PCs (or one) for different tasks ranging from entertainment to education and others. More details about these products shall be made available soon.

Commenting on the launch, Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio, said: "Over 80 per cent of data consumption in India happens indoors. I'm thrilled to introduce Jio Smart Home services, which is poised to redefine how we experience and manage our homes."

On a related note, the company also confirmed that Jio AirFiber will launch in India on September. According to About 5G FAQ, it will deliver fibre-like speeds "without wires". It will work on a plug and play mechanism as a personal Wi-Fi hotspot at your place. You can read more on this here.
