Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) has announced the nationwide rollout of 5G-based services, powered by the advanced 26 GHz mmWave spectrum. The company successfully fulfilled its minimum roll-out obligations across all 22 Licensed Service Areas (LSA) and spectrum bands ahead of schedule, as per the terms specified for the spectrum allocation received on August 17, 2022.
RJIL formally submitted the requisite documents to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on July 19, 2023, indicating the fulfilment of Phase One's minimum roll-out commitment. The requisite DoT testing was completed throughout all circles by August 11, 2023.
Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, Akash Ambani, stated, "By honouring our commitment to the government, DoT, and the 1.4 billion Indians towards the accelerated rollout of high-quality 5G services, we are delighted to announce that we have elevated India to a global leadership position in the rapid deployment of 5G services."
He further emphasised the diligent efforts put forth by the Jio team since acquiring the 5G spectrum in August of the preceding year. The team's tireless work aimed to uphold the pace of the promised 5G rollout, with the aspiration of achieving pan-India 5G coverage by the end of this year.
Due to its acquisition of a varied blend of low-band, mid-band, and mmWave spectrum, Jio's strategy stands out. This, along with Jio's strong fibre network and in-house technological platforms, puts it in a position to provide both consumers and businesses with comprehensive 5G coverage.
Celebrating India's 77th Independence Day, Jio is commemorating "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav" by introducing the nation to mmWave-based Jio True-5G business connectivity, marking a significant milestone in India's technological journey.
