OpenAI CEO Accused of Sexual Abuse: The CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman has been accused of sexual abuse by his sister Ann Altman, who has also filed a lawsuit on Monday. She has accused her brother of repeatedly sexually abusing her between 1997 and 2006. The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, alleges that the abuse took place at their family residence in Clayton, Missouri, according to CNBC.
The alleged abuse started when Sam Altman was 12 years old and his sister was 3 years old and this continued till the time Ann was 11 years old and Sam Altman had entered adulthood by then. According to the claims the abuse took place "several times per week," which started with oral sex and later involved penetration. Ann stated that the abuse caused her "severe emotional distress, mental anguish, and depression," effects that she says continue to this day.
In response to the allegations, Sam Altman posted a family statement on X on January 7, which he reportedly co-wrote with his mother, Connie, and his brothers, Max and Jack. The statement expressed concern for Ann's well-being, implying that her accusations might be connected to her mental health struggles.

"Our family loves Annie and is very concerned about her well-being. Caring for a family member who faces mental health challenges is incredibly difficult. We know many families facing similar struggles understand this well," the opening lines of the statement read.
Sam Altman's statement also sheds light on the family's efforts to support Ann over the years, which includes financial aid, rent, medical expenses, job opportunities and even an offer to get her a new house. The family stated that Annie has repeatedly demanded more money and made several "deeply hurtful" remarks over the years, which they claim are "utterly untrue."

"Despite this, Annie continues to demand more money from us. In this vein, Annie has made deeply hurtful and entirely untrue claims about our family, especially Sam. We've chosen not to respond publicly, out of respect for her privacy and our own. However, she has now taken legal action against Sam, and we feel we have no choice but to address this," the statement read further.
"The worst allegation she has made is that she was sexually abused by Sam as a child (she has also claimed instances of sexual abuse from others). Her claims have evolved drastically over time. Newly for this lawsuit, they now include allegations of incidents where Sam was over 18," it states.
Ann Altman has also made public allegations of sexual assault against her brother. However, this would be the first time that she has resorted to a legal action. The lawsuit is requesting a jury trial and damages of over $75,000.
Sam Altman is a prominent entrepreneur and investor in Silicon Valley, gaining worldwide recognition after the remarkable success of OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot, which launched in late 2022 and sparked global interest in artificial intelligence.
