Samsung announced the Galaxy S23 series in India at its first Unpacked 2023 event. While it is a relatively new offering, we are already hearing rumours and leaks about the upcoming S24 series for a while now. On the list are upgrades in performance, camera and screen. In the latest leaks, the display details have surfaced online that claim the upcoming S24 phones may sport M13 OLED panels.
Gadgets360, citing Chosun, a Korean news outlet, added that OLED displays may use M13 material. Currently, the models offer an M12 OLED screen in the current series. Compared to the present, the panels could have better power efficiency and may be lighter than the present ones.
The report added that the top-of-the-line 'Ultra' model may offer up to 16GB RAM. Currently, the Ultra model comes with up to 12GB RAM. On the other hand, the vanilla (S24) and the Plus (S24+) model may come in a 12GB RAM variant. This would be an upgrade from the existing 8GB models.
As for more updates on the panel, the new Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 use the M12 panel. The report added that the latest iPhone 14 'Pro' models also offer the same screen, and the iPhone 15 series will likely have these panels. Apple iPhone 16 Pro is tipped to boast a M13 OLED panel like the S24 series.
Besides upgrades in screen and RAM, the models may debut with the company's own Exynos chip. It could probably be the Exynos 2400. In select markets, this could change to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU. Currently, the S23 series has Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips soldered on the inside for performance.
According to reports, the lineup may include three smartphones: Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. We can expect the models to debut in the first quarter of 2023.
