SAMSUNG's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 foldable devices will likely debut this year. Amid these speculations, specifications of the handsets have started surfacing online. In this series, fresh leaks have reportedly revealed that the US variant of the handsets will likely sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU.

According to GSMArena, the US variants of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 were listed on Geekbench. The chipset draws parallels from the S23 series. But with an up-tuned CPU and GPU.

Samsung Galaxy Fold5 is listed with the model number SM-F946U, while the Galaxy Z Flip5 appeared with the SM-F731U model name on Geekbench 6, the news platform reported. Speaking of numbers of the Z Fold5, it aggregated a 2014 single-core and a 5022 multi-core score. Coming to the Z Flip5, the phone scored 2030 in single-core and 5213 in multi-core.

Coming to CPU cluster configuration, three cores clocked at 2.02 GHz, four cores at 2.80 GHz and one core at 3.36 GHz, were spotted on Geekbench. Notably, the memory on the Z Fold5 was 10.75GB, indicating a 12GB variant. On the Flip 5, an 8GB RAM variant underwent testing. Both phones appeared with Android 13.

Samsung earlier introduced an improved Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 for the Z lineup over the S22 phone's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It would be interesting to see if this changes the upcoming series.

Reports in the past claimed, the Galaxy Z Fold5 might sport the same cover display size of 6.2 inches as its predecessor. It will likely come with a 120Hz panel. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip5 might undergo a cover display expansion, popular tipster Ice Universe claimed.

Further, SamMobile in February, via 'exclusive information,' revealed the Z Fold5 will likely come in a 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage variant similar to the current model. The Z Flip5 may debut in the same trim as the Z Flip4's 128, 256 and 512GB internal space, the report adds. The upcoming Fold/Flip handsets are expected to debut in August 2023.
