The South Korean company, Samsung, is allegedly planning to unveil a first-of-its-kind tri-fold smartphone, Galaxy Z TriFold, on December 5. If a recent report by South Korean news outlet Chosun Daily is to be believed, it could come with a price tag of around $3,000, translating into approximately ₹2.66 lakh. While regional availability is not officially confirmed, hints from certification suggest that it could be up for a global rollout.

The Galaxy Z TriFold recently made an appearance at the APEC 2025 summit in South Korea, giving its audience their first view of the phone's innovative design: a three-part 10-inch OLED display connected by dual hinges. Folded inward, it assumes the dimensions of a standard smartphone, protecting the flexible screen within – a design reminiscent of Samsung's earlier Flex G concept.

Design, Display, and Build

The Z TriFold has a 6.5-inch external display, usable when folded for everyday smartphone actions, and a tablet-sized 10-inch screen when unfolded for heavy multitasking and immersive media. As an inward folder, the design is durable according to Samsung, whereas rivals like the Huawei Mate XT fold outwards.

Leaks of patents point to a three-cell battery system, where each folding segment will have a battery for better weight distribution and continuous power supply. It is expected that the device will feature wireless and reverse wireless charging to keep up with premium foldables.

Power and Performance

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z TriFold will reportedly run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, similar to the recent flagships by Samsung. It could sport a maximum memory of 16GB RAM with up to 1TB storage to deliver flagship-like performance in gaming, multitasking, and media consumption.

Camera and Photography

With the TriFold, Samsung will reportedly bring its Galaxy S Ultra-level photography. The rear camera may feature a 200MP primary sensor, an ultrawide lens, and a telephoto lens with up to 100x digital zoom.

Expected Dimensions and OS

The unfolded thickness measures about 4.2 mm, folding to around 14 mm. The Galaxy Z TriFold is powered by a 5,600 mAh battery, running Android 16-based OneUI 8 for the polished software experience.
