Samsung has now officially begun launching One UI 8, its new software update, starting with the Galaxy S25 series this week. The company affirmed that the update will eventually roll out to other flagships such as the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S24 FE, and other eligible devices later this year.

"Beginning this week with the Galaxy S25 series, One UI 8 will also arrive at the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S24 FE and other eligible models later this year," Samsung stated in its release.

Smarter, Safer, More Personal

One UI 8 comes with a combination of AI intelligence and improved security. The interface learns user patterns with proactive recommendations, while security takes a major leap with Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) and Knox Matrix, which can log out devices from Samsung accounts if there is detected suspicious behaviour. Secure Wi-Fi has also been enhanced with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to protect against emerging threats.

New AI-Powered Features

Samsung is relying heavily on multimodal AI. Gemini Live offers real-time visual and contextual communication, and Circle to Search with Google opens up further potential with instant translations and even game assistance. For larger screens, One UI 8 introduces AI Results View in Split View or Floating View, as well as enhanced Multi Window multitasking with drag-and-drop AI content.

Smarter Tools for Daily Use

On foldables, the new Bar2 widget indicates live app usage and media playback on the Galaxy Z Flip's Flex Window, with even more third-party apps supported. Brief3, yet another addition, provides daily customised information such as traffic notifications, reminders, Samsung Moments, entertainment recommendations, and health insights from the Galaxy Watch.

For creatives, Drawing Assist, Writing Assist, and Portrait Studio simplify content creation. Audio Eraser removes background noise in calls or recordings, and Call Captions and Interpreter simplify conversations in noisy or multilingual settings.

Customisation and Design

Samsung has not forgotten personalisation either. One UI 8 features a dynamic clock design that changes according to wallpapers, a new font, emoji, and FlexWindow wallpaper options, along with hands-free access to Gemini Live on foldables for productivity on the move.
