Samsung’s long-rumoured tri-fold smartphone, which is one of the most anticipated devices of the year, may have a release date at last. Reliable tipster Ice Universe on Weibo recently suggested the phone may be unveiled in an on-ground event in South Korea on September 29, 2025. Tentatively named either the Galaxy Z TriFold or Galaxy G Fold, the new model will reportedly sport a dual-hinge (tri-fold) design, letting it unfold into a larger, tablet-sized shape.
Samsung Tri-Fold Launch Timeline
According to the leaks, the Galaxy Tri-Fold will debut in South Korea and is tipped to make it to China in the next few months. Although it hasn't officially announced the date, this September’s event would be Samsung’s most massive foldable launch yet and cement its leadership in the foldable smartphone market.
The new tri-fold is the ultimate form factor for a foldable 5G device, fitting in a pocket and becoming a compact device when folded.
Samsung Tri-Fold Price Expectations
The Galaxy Tri-Fold has been rumored to come with a price tag of more than 4 million KRW (roughly $2,930 / ₹2,52,524). If it's accurate then the price may place it in the ultra-premium tier and mean it fails to reach the masses – being instead a phone which is only bought by early adopters and tech fans.
Samsung’s foldable offerings have always been more expensive than regular flagships, and the tri-fold may take that even further.

What Else to Expect at Samsung’s September Event
Next to the Galaxy Tri-Fold, Samsung will allegedly show off two other highly-rumored products:
1. Project Moohan XR Headset (Galaxy XR)
- Samsung might also show us what its next leap into extended reality (XR) looks like with the Galaxy XR headset.
- Price will range between 2.5 to 4 million KRW ($1,800 to $2,000).
- Debut in Korea on October 13, 2025, and go global.
2. Samsung Galaxy Glasses (AI-powered smart glasses)
- Samsung may tease its first pair of AI-powered smart glasses at the event.
- Dubbed Galaxy Glasses, these could integrate AI-driven features for productivity, health, and immersive experiences.
- A full release is expected at a later stage.
Why This Launch Matters
The Galaxy Tri-Fold could be a tipping point in the foldable smartphone market. Samsung has proven itself a leader with Galaxy Z Fold (and Flip) concept, and the tri-fold would be a next level breakthrough in design and usability terms.
- The dual-hinge system could offer new multitasking capabilities, turning the device into a perfect productivity machine.
- With tabletlike screen space that fits in your pocket, it could be a draw for professionals, gamers and for entertainment buffs.
- And if priced right, it could set off a new round of multi-fold devices from other makers.
But the top-shelf pricing may prove to be a roadblock to widespread adoption, especially in developing markets.

Final Thoughts
Going by leaks, September 29, 2025, might become Samsung’s most memorable day if it releases the world’s first commercially available three-fold smartphone, Galaxy Tri-Fold (Z TriFold/G Fold). With the Galaxy XR headset and Galaxy Glasses also rumored, the event could focus on Samsung's desire to own the next era of mobile and immersive technologies.
Affordability might restrict its accessibility, but the cool factor guarantees the Galaxy Tri-Fold will become one of the most discussed tech launches of 2025.
