Spotify on Thursday introduced three new Premium subscription tiers in India, expanding its lineup with plans that cater to every kind of listener—from casual streamers to serious audiophiles. The new portfolio includes Premium Lite, Premium Standard, and Premium Platinum, with prices starting at Rs 139 per month.

“While Spotify has become an integral part of listeners’ lives in India, the way people stream varies from those discovering music for the first time to passionate audiophiles seeking high-quality sound and advanced discovery features. The new portfolio reflects this diversity,” the company said in a press statement.

The Premium Lite plan, priced at Rs 139 per month, offers an ad-free listening experience — Spotify’s most affordable option yet. The Premium Standard plan, available at Rs 199 per month, provides ad-free playback, offline downloads, and high-quality audio streaming. Students can access the same benefits at Rs 99 per month through Spotify’s student offering.

At the top end is Premium Platinum, which costs Rs 299 per month. It introduces AI-powered tools like AI DJ and AI playlists, as well as integration with third-party DJ and mixing platforms. The Platinum plan also supports lossless audio for uncompressed, high-fidelity streaming and allows two additional household members to create separate accounts under one subscription.

Amarjit Singh Batra, Managing Director of Spotify India, said, “We are evolving our Premium subscription portfolio from the one-size-fits-all model to reflect the diverse ways people listen to music in India. Every listener is different, so we’re offering more choice, flexibility, and control from Lite to Platinum, ensuring everyone can experience Spotify in a way that fits their lifestyle and deepens their connection to the music and creators they love.”

The move follows Spotify’s earlier price revision this year, which saw its base Premium plan rise from Rs 119 to Rs 139 per month. CEO Daniel Ek has previously emphasised India’s growing importance as a market, calling it a key driver for Spotify’s next phase of revenue growth.

Globally, Spotify’s numbers continue to rise. The company’s Premium subscribers grew 12 per cent to 281 million, while total monthly active users climbed by 17 million to 713 million in the third quarter. Spotify also projected stronger fourth-quarter earnings, buoyed by its new subscription tiers and festive-season momentum, according to a report by Reuters.
