JE Technology Desk: Spotify has announced that it is bringing the biggest revamp to its Desktop experience through the three-column design. This includes newly redesigned 'Your Library' and 'Now Playing' views. Both views are resizable depending on the needs of the users. Before smartphones, the Desktop was the top favourite to stream music, the company highlighted in the newsroom post. It aims to revamp this experience for users to curate, explore and organise songs within the app on a computer or the web.

On the other hand, according to reports, the company is also planning a 'Supremium' tier that may debut this year. Here are more details on both these developments.

While the main screen is untouched to find songs and discover content on the platform, the changes from mainly centred on the extreme ends. On the left, 'Your Library' for quick access to saved audio tracks and podcasts helps user optimise their actions and save time. It also offers a better overview of the content within the tab and allows for easy switching between playlists.

On the right, the 'Now Playing' view displays the podcast or audio track which is playing. A user can also explore more details regarding the artist and the song from this tab, which includes the artist's merchandise and tour dates. In the case of select podcasts, users can follow the transcript as they listen.

The 'Your Library' view is set to expanded view by default, and users can click the 'Your Library' button to squeeze the tab screen space. This new view also allows users better access to their exclusive library, which was mixed with the entire Spotify catalogue in the previous scheme. Spotify's revamped PC experience is rolling to Desktop users globally.

New Supremium Tier

According to Bloomberg, the music streaming app is planning to introduce a premium subscription option that may offer high-fidelity audio to drive more users. Initially, the feature will roll out in non-US markets, as per sources cited in the report.
