JE Technology Desk: Spotify, one of the major audio streaming platforms, is reportedly testing a new feature dubbed 'Your Offline Mix' for users who are offline and still want to listen to the music from their favourite playlists on the platform. Spotify, till now requires the internet in order to let the users stream music and podcasts on the platform.
Taking to Twitter, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek mentioned that the company has been testing the feature but has not revealed the key details about the feature and its functionality. "We've been testing out a new feature called "Your Offline Mix" - a playlist designed for those times when you might not be online. What do you think?" he tweeted.
Further, the screenshot which is posted by Ek indicates that the playlists can store music with hours of listening time and can be useful in certain situations where users do not have internet access, for instance, users who are boarding a flight and have forgotten to download the music.

"This is going to be extremely useful when we are on a road trip in the middle of nowhere and we forgot to download our playlists," one user said. "Finally!! Please let us filter if it's offline music or offline podcasts as well!!" remarked another person.
The company hasn't provided any information regarding the feature's implementation timeframe, use case, or implementation method, but it will undoubtedly be helpful to a sizable user base.
Meanwhile, Spotify's DJ AI tool has begun to roll out to premium users in the UK and Ireland. In February, premium users in the US and Canada were first given access to this function. The feature is powered by OpenAI technology and is still in beta.
