Tecno announced the Phantom V Fold 5G in India in April 2023. And it seems the company is gearing up to introduce the successor to the handset in the upcoming days. The smartphone appeared in the IMEI database and will offer much-needed upgrades for the phones. According to a report from GSMChina, the foldable may draw its power from the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset.

For the unversed, the company recently launched the Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G a few weeks back, which is a direct competitor to the Motorola Razr 40 in terms of pricing. The device was the second foldable from Tecno in India. The upcoming V2 Fold could make Tecno the second brand to introduce a second-generation model of a book-style foldable after Samsung.

While the IMEI database does not reveal elaborate details, GSMChina shared a few details about the upcoming smartphone.

Tecno Phantom V2 Fold Expectations

The company may introduce the smartphone in the first quarter of 2024. Considering the company's track record, an India debut could follow soon after the global release. It may prove to be a book-style competitor to the OnePlus Open and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. The device could offer better performance and a slimmer design than its predecessor.

On a related note, the Phantom V Fold sports a 7.85-inch 2K+ 120Hz AMOLED LTPO main screen and a 6.42-inch FHD+ AMOLED LTPO cover panel with Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Under the hood, the smartphone runs on a 4nm Dimensity 9000+ CPU and Mali-G710 MC10 GPU for performance. It runs on HiOS 13 Fold based on Android 13.

Phantom V Fold has a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging. As for the optics, the handset offers a 50MP primary, 13MP ultrawide and 50MP telephoto rear lens and a 32MP and 16MP selfie shooter. As for connectivity, the phone gets Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. It is priced at Rs 78,499 on Amazon at the time of filing.
