Telegram Update: Popular encrypted messaging platform Telegram has announced a range of improvements and enhancements for its mobile app. The update was the 10th (and the last) iteration of 2023, with improvements in calls, design, bots and more. For a more detailed look, here are the changes the platform introduced in the latest update that is now rolling out for users.

Calls: According to Telegram, the upgraded calls experience offers new animations and dynamic backgrounds. These backgrounds change depending on your call activity: "ringing, active or ended". For the unaware, calls on the platform are end-to-end encrypted and allow users to turn on cameras and share their device's screen.

Plus, calls will now take up fewer resources to save battery life and work better on relatively dated devices. Plus, improvements to call quality, interface glitches and other bug fixes have also been implemented. "More improvements to connection and audio quality are coming in 2024," Telegram said.

Thanos Snap Effect: While deleting messages on the app, users can now experience the vaporise animation on Android and iOS. It debuted in the experimental phase on iOS for auto-deleted messages earlier.

Bot Update: The company's popular free bot platform will get the "largest update" in history. "Among dozens of new features, bots can now react to messages and manage reactions, quotes, and links, send replies to other chats or topics, and much more," the platform said.

Telegram lets developers integrate their services on the messaging app via chatbots, mini apps (as a substitute for a website) and more. Bots can also receive details about "giveaways and boosts in channels where they are admins". More enhancements bundled in the update will be notified in the future. Among the top-5 most downloaded apps across the globe, the app surpassed "800 million monthly active users" last year.
