INSTAGRAM Reels is getting new features that cater to creators primarily, Meta announced in a Newsroom post. The updates in the Meta-owned platform include a unified video editing screen, easy access to trending data and two new content stats options.
Here are the details on the newly announced creator-oriented features.
Tracking Trends
The new trends destination will help keep track of the latest trends to help a creator plan content accordingly. According to Meta, creators can now see the top trending audio tracks on Reels and the number of times the soundtrack was used in a video. Besides using it, they can save trending songs for future videos. Plus, trending topics and hashtags will be visible on a new page to optimise content.
Editing Reels
A unified screen to edit a reel encompassing the video clips, text, sticker and audio options will help streamline the editing process. It is available on iOS and Android devices across the world.
"This makes it easier to align and time elements of your reel to the right moments in a more visual way," Meta said. Plus, the company highlights more features are in the pipeline.
More Insights
To better understand how the uploaded content performs, two metrics - total watch time and average watch time will be accessible from the content viewing menu. A creator will be able to see the watch time of a reel along with the replay duration with the help of the first option. Average watch time will be calculated after dividing a reel's watch time by the number of playbacks.
It will let a user better understand where the audience peaks their engagement and let a creator build a hook accordingly. Further, a new feature will notify a creator if a user starts following them through their reel.
Improvements in Gifts
Meta announced it is expanding Gifts to more places. Plus, a feature that will let a creator see which fan has sent the gift will be made available. Once a creator taps the heart icon on the right, the fan will get notified of the recognition.
Gifts will expand to "Australia, Canada, France, Mexico, New Zealand and the UK in the coming weeks," Meta adds.
