TWITTER, a microblogging platform that made headlines after removing the legacy blue ticks from nearly all profiles worldwide. In a new update, many famous people, including basketball player LeBron James and author Stephen King, still have legacy blue ticks on their profiles.
While users who want to keep the blue tick will have to pay for the Twitter Blue subscription, the blue tick can still be seen on the profiles of celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Ellen DeGeneres, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, and Ryan Reynolds.
Taking notice, Stephen King, author of 'The Shining', who has previously called Musk a bad fit for Twitter, tweeted: "My Twitter account says I've subscribed to Twitter Blue. No, I haven't. According to my Twitter account, I provided a phone number. I haven't," and Elon Musk responded on Twitter, "You're welcome namaste," with a hand folding emoji.
The Verge claims that James also said he wouldn't pay for a Twitter Blue subscription and that he hasn't yet paid Twitter to keep the blue badge.
I’m paying for a few personally

Elon Musk stated on Twitter, "I'm paying for a few personally," before adding, "Just Shatner, LeBron, and King," a reference to William Shatner, the Star Trek actor who previously complained about having to pay to keep his blue checkmark.
Meanwhile, many celebrities, including Virat Kohli, Shah Rukh Khan, and Amitabh Bachchan, have had their legacy blue tick removed from their profiles. Not only that, but former US President Donald Trump, Microsoft Corp co-founder Bill Gates, and reality TV star Kim Kardashian have all lost their blue ticks.
Elon Musk had previously stated that he would remove the legacy blue ticks from Twitter by April 1, but this did not occur. Surprisingly, Twitter then changed the definition of the Blue tick, claiming that it is only available to legacy blue tick users and Twitter Blue subscribers. And it appears that Twitter is finally putting into action what its CEO, Elon Musk, previously stated.
