JE Technology Desk: After witnessing a massive outage on Saturday, Elon Musk shared on Twitter that users will now let users read a limited number of tweets on the platform. While the billionaire informed the world about the initial limit of 6,000 posts per day for verified, 600 posts for unverified and 300 posts per day for new unverified accounts, the restrictions have been moved to 10,000, 1,000 and 500 posts. The Tesla CEO shared the latest update at 3:19 AM.

Amid these updates, several users on Twitter echoed the global outage on Saturday and "#TwitterDown", "#RIP Twitter", and #RateLimitExceeded" continues to trend in India, with over 1,70,000 tweets at the time of filing.

The aim was to curb "data scraping and system manipulation," and the steps were temporary. Musk also retweeted a parody account tweet that said: "The reason I set a 'View Limit' is because we are all Twitter addicts and need to go outside. I'm doing a good deed for the world here."

Joining the furore was Jack Dorsey, former CEO of Twitter said: "Running Twitter is hard. I don't wish that stress upon anyone. I trust that the team is doing their best under the constraints they have, which are immense." Dorsey also "Agreed" to a user who added that Twitter is the only decent social media app.

It was a busy day for the micro-blogging platform as the company also "account walled" tweets and the activity of users. This implies that if a user wishes to access tweets from their browser without a Twitter account, they will have to create one to proceed or sign in first.

"Temporary emergency measure. We were getting data pillaged so much that it was degrading service for normal users," Musk said in a tweet. The main aim was to stop AI companies from taking Twitter data for free and developing their AI models.
