Elon Musk's takeover of the Bluebird completed one year on October 27. During this time frame, the platform underwent sweeping changes while serving its core purpose of microblogging. According to X, an average user spends over 32 minutes on X daily, with total active minutes clocking more than 7.8 billion per day.

Premium Tiers

Twitter was a free service with no bifurcation of features. With the arrival of Elon Musk on the scene, the platform now has three paid subscriptions (X Premium+, Premium and Basic) and a separate tier for organisations with varying benefits in 200+ countries.

According to X, this helps combat spam activity and bots on the platform and promote quality content. Active creators can benefit from blue tick, monetisation, calling, videos and more to improve user experience.

In the renewed push, X has diverted significant resources and attention to its video arm. The company has unveiled better live streaming options, immersive video player and video download for paid users. X also added the option to upload longer videos of up to three hours and 1080p quality.

The company supplied a boost to the creator economy using its monetisation program to let Premium accounts earn a living on X. With enhanced capabilities, X also aims to enter the gaming industry with its game livestream features.

Banking, Jobs And More

The platform rolled out audio and video calling features for Premium subscribers on X on iOS. This does not require a phone number and can be configured depending on the needs of a user from the DMs tab.

X Hiring, which also aims to lock horns with LinkedIn, is a tool for verified organisations to post job listings. It allows organisations to advertise open roles on their profile and win candidate applications. Musk also plans to foray into a news distribution service with XWire. However, the details on this remain scant at the moment.
