Vi 5G: Vodafone Idea is finally bringing its 5G network to Delhi NCR, with the official rollout scheduled for May 15. After launching in cities like Patna, Chandigarh, and Mumbai, Vi users in the capital will now get a taste of high-speed internet as part of the telco’s broader 5G expansion across the country.

The company aims to cover all 17 of its priority circles with 5G services by the end of August. For Delhi NCR, Vi is partnering with Ericsson to build out its infrastructure. The focus, according to Vi, is on energy-efficient networks and improved performance, thanks to “AI-powered Self-Organising Network” technology. Like Airtel, Vi is relying on 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) architecture, which helps deliver a smoother transition between 4G and 5G connections.

For those ready to make the jump, Vi's 5G recharge plans in Delhi will start at Rs 299. Users with 5G-enabled devices will get access to unlimited data, with Vi promising faster downloads, better streaming and video calls, and more seamless cloud experiences.

The company is also eyeing Bengaluru and Mysuru as its next 5G destinations, part of a larger Rs 55,000 crore investment spread over three years. So far, things seem to be picking up in Mumbai, where Vi says 70% of eligible users are already on 5G, and the city alone contributes to 20% of its data traffic.

In a press statement, Vi said, “Vi is building a future-ready, high-capacity network designed to deliver seamless, fast connectivity to meet the evolving demands of digital India. By expanding its 5G infrastructure and unlocking next-generation connectivity experiences for millions, Vi is set to further enable digital India, empowering both consumers and enterprises through advanced mobile technologies, smart applications, and industry-grade solutions.”

With this momentum, Vi is clearly aiming to catch up in the 5G race while supporting India's push toward a more digitally connected future.
