Vivo has silently introduced the Vivo Y50i in China as a new entrant in the company’s Y50 series. The new smartphone is the latest addition to the Vivo Y50 and Vivo Y50m that were launched in July. Y50i – which is also based on the same hardware as the other two models takes one prominent hit – slower charging speeds.

Pricing and Availability
As for pricing, the Vivo Y50i costs CNY 1,499 (approximately $210) in China; we do not know whether it will arrive elsewhere internationally.
Y50i vs Y50 and Y50m: What’s Different?
The Y50i is essentially the same as the Vivo Y50 and Y50m, save for its charging rate.
Y50 & Y50m: Support 44W fast charging
Y50i: Limited to 15W wired charging
The only difference is the color, which makes the Y50i feel like a strange step down particularly because slower charging wouldn’t typically justify an all-new variant.

Final Thoughts
The Vivo Y50i is essentially a cheaper alternative if you’re willing to settle for slower charging. With a huge 6,000mAh battery and decent performance from the Dimensity 6300 chip, coupled with a relatively cheap price tag, it might appeal to those who are new to smartphones in China. But sans fast charging, it might find it hard to compete with the likes of Y50 or even the Y50m from its own stable for that matter.
