WhatsApp, an instant messaging application, introduced a chat lock option for users a while ago. This option allowed users to lock messages for added privacy. But it seems the company is working on a setting to hide them entirely from the chat list. According to WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned app is working on this feature, and the option will be released in a future version of the application.
According to the report, the option is under development and not releasing to beta testers. But, it was discovered in the Android beta build "2.23.22.9." In the screengrab shared in the report, the toggle to "Hide locked chats" is visible. This confirms the upcoming nature of the feature.

"Locked chats won't show on your chat list. To see them, enter your secret code into the search bar in your Chats tab," the description of the feature read. Below the option are traces of the awaited "Secret code" feature. In the current scenario, the conversations locked by a user are concealed in the chat list, which allows anyone to find out the presence of locked messages.

The new feature will address this limitation. Once turned on, this list will be hidden. Chats will be accessible after the code is entered in the search bar. The fresh enhancement will upscale the privacy of locked chats from prying vision and offer a more personal space for chats that must not be public. This feature will make it difficult for others to find out the presence of concealed chats within the version.
