WhatsApp is a popular social media app used worldwide for texting and exchanging photos and videos. However, iPhone users may see a recent change that may confuse them as the company is now moving to green from the blue colour scheme. Moreover, the tint of the green shade on Android has undergone changes in recent days.

The change is more prominent on iPhones and the company is pushing these visual alterations via a new update. Throughout the app, the blue elements are now green, making it more in line with its Android counterpart and the overall platform's colour palette. Some icons and buttons within the app appear slightly different and more spaced out on the app.

These changes are reportedly a part of the "24.8.83" update and users cannot revert to the old blue theme after installing the new package. For context, this change started rolling out in February and is now heading to India. "We've made some changes to how WhatsApp looks and feels, including spacing, colours, icons and more," WhatsApp said.

"These changes bring a modern, new experience to WhatsApp and make it more accessible and easier to use," the Help Center noted. On Android, the changes include a darker dark mode, more white space in light mode, a new shade of green in the theme, fresh look for some icons and buttons, a WhatsApp logo in the Chats tab and moving tabs from the top to bottom.

On iOS, the changes include a refreshed green colour scheme, changes in the shape and colour of the icons and buttons, and improved spacing in the UI. WhatsApp said that "everyone who uses WhatsApp will eventually receive this update, so it's not something you can opt out of". These changes are "slowly rolling out" and may not be available for all users.
