JE Technology Desk: WhatsApp, an instant messaging platform owned by Meta, launched its official chat account to let users receive the latest updates about the app in March, according to WABetaInfo. While the official chat account sent out messages to a random group back then, the feature is "widely rolling out" now.

The news outlet reported it is rolling out in beta build '2.23.15.10' on Android. The account will share tips and tricks with users. It is expanding to more users starting today. This wider release will allow several users to experiment with the chat account.

Why WhatsApp Is On WhatsApp?

With the account, the instant messaging app aims to sensitise users about the settings they should adopt for the security and privacy of their accounts. It will also inform users about the latest features introduced in the app.

What has changed?

The UI interface of the welcome message is more intuitive for first-time users. The text and icons of the first prompt have been altered to let users better understand the feature. "This is a secure, official chat from WhatsApp. We use it to share tips, make announcements and let you know about new features. We'll never ask for your personal information," the dialogue box reads.

The message in the screenshot informs the user about the two-step verification option to "double down" the privacy of an account. Users "can set up a PIN" to make their account more secure via this feature, said WhatsApp.

However, a user must note that the feature is releasing in beta and might also reach stable versions on Android and iOS. A user cannot open the chat unless they receive the first communication. Earlier in March, the WhatsApp enthusiast first reported about the feature being released to random users on Android and iOS.
