WhatsApp Upcoming Features 2024: Meta's messaging app WhatsApp tests new features for users regularly. In the latest move, the company is now working on an option to let users attach notes to a contact. This will be available for businesses to let them add personalised details for specific accounts. This 'contact note feature' will roll out in a future version of WhatsApp web, according to WABetaInfo.

According to the report, the option is "under development", and once the feature starts rolling out, a business may be able to add specific messages to contacts in the form of short notes. Based on the screengrab shared by the news tracker, the chat info screen could get a new 'Notes' field. "Add notes about your customer. Only you can see this information," the description text of the feature read.

A business account may add contextual information, preferences, payment details and other follow-up texts to get back later. The feature will allow businesses to have an organised space to record customer information. Plus, these notes may help personalise the experience of a chat. These Notes will be private.

Meanwhile, the company is also working on a favourites option in the Settings. Spotted on the Android '2.24.9.19' update, a feature to manage favourite contacts may be available within the app settings. As per the screengrab shared by WABetaInfo, the feature may allow users to add, reorder or remove favourite contacts or groups. This may help better manage favourite contacts in the 'Calls' tab. Moreover, WhatsApp is rolling out an event feature for community groups.

Rolling out in the Android beta '2.24.9.20' version, community members can create end-to-end encrypted events for varying purposes, such as meetings and more. Available within the attachment panel, this option may allow users to create an event by entering a name, description, date and location and mentioning requirements for a WhatsApp audio or video call. Apart from notification to members, these events will be listed in the group chat info screen and community home.
