WhatsApp was recently in the news for testing Meta AI in more regions besides the US. Apart from artificial intelligence, the company is now working to introduce an enhancement to the core elements of the Android app. Meta is reportedly working on a feature to let users share 'quick reaction' to status updates of contacts, according to WABetaInfo.

As per the report, the feature is in the works and is expected to roll out to beta testers soon. Spotted in the Android beta '2.24.9.23' version, the feature will help improve engagement on status updates to enhance the user experience. Enrolled testers must keep their app updated via the Google Play Store to try out the feature whenever it starts rolling out.

Based on the screengrab shared by the news tracker, the company is experimenting with a green heart icon in the status viewer next to the 'Reply' bar. Users will get the option to add a reaction to the status of a contact to express instant appreciation for the content. WABetaInfo said these reactions will appear on the status screen (as a green heart emoji) and not the chat screen.

The reaction-sharing feature will be different from chats as it will only appear in the 'Viewed' section of the status to the uploader. These will not reflect in the conversation list like messages. This option will help ensure chats are clutter-free from status reactions. The option will likely offer end-to-end encryption and will be secure and private.

Plus, this will also help stack reactions to status in a single window, unlike different chat windows of users. Users will also get the option to quickly scan who responded to their content at one place. Meanwhile, the company is also testing the Meta AI chat model for image and text generation on the app among other features. You can read more on this here.
