WhatsApp, a Meta-owned messaging application, develops and tests new features regularly. In the latest move, the company is developing a voice chat feature to let users communicate with Meta AI, according to WABetaInfo. The feature is undergoing development in the iOS beta "24.16.10.70" version through the TestFlight program.

As per the report, the "under development" feature is not rolling out to beta testers. The platform is also testing a feature to share voice messages to Meta AI and gain responses on Android. This will open a second medium of communication with Meta AI besides text. Similarly, the new voice chat mode is undergoing development for iPhones. It will allow more direct and quick conversation with the chat assistant.

As per the screengrab, Meta AI may welcome users with "Hi, how can I help?" text on the overlay sheet. Next to the "Listening" text, a keyboard icon may display the keyboard (with a tap) to write a prompt to Meta AI. It will improve the efficiency of interactions as the chat model may also respond with voice.

The platform may let users choose between different voices besides the default choice for a personalised interaction. It will also facilitate real-time conversations with AI using voice for complex information. Users can also switch to text mode if they are unable to find the chat using voice mode. On Android, the AI uses Meta's speech recognition system to understand these messages.

Sending voice notes may be possible via the microphone icon next to the message bar on Android. The company is also experimenting with additional chatbots via AI Studio to enable more tailored and personalised interactions. Meanwhile, users and beta testers must ensure their app is up-to-date with the most recent version so that they can enjoy the latest features as soon as they start rolling out.
